Lodge history image

The Lodge was founded in 1876. There were twelve Petitioners, all Royal Engineers, ranked from Lieutenant Colonel to Company Sergeant Major. The Founders came from the following lodges:

No. 20 Royal Kent Lodge of Antiquity, No. 153 Inhabitants (Gibraltar), No. 184 Gillingham Lodge of Benevolence, No. 723 Panmure (Aldershot), No. 1174 Pentangle (Kent), No. 1331 Aldershot Camp, No. 1424 Brownrigg Lodge of Unity (Kent), and No. 2466 Cherrybles (London).

From these military roots, the Lodge has grown into a welcoming fellowship drawing members from across the wider community, whilst honouring its proud Royal Engineers heritage.

About the Lodge

As a Lodge we came from a military background, with many serving and ex-service personnel among our number. Our current membership is drawn from a diverse community, and many trades and professions are represented.

For those new to Freemasonry wishing to join, we are known as a friendly and welcoming lodge, with many experienced mentors to guide you through your journey.

For existing Masons seeking a meeting place with good fellowship, good ritual, and a growing membership of younger Masons, you will not go wrong in becoming a joining member of No. 2599.

The elected Master of the Lodge each year regularly chooses a charity to support during his year of Mastership, and regular meetings include fundraising and social events open to families and friends.

We welcome all existing Masons as visitors or joining members.
